{"id":9049,"date":"2022-02-12T12:21:49","date_gmt":"2022-02-16T09:59:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.skhamptonpark.catholic.edu.au\/upschool\/?p=9049"},"modified":"2026-04-05T14:15:59","modified_gmt":"2026-04-05T14:15:59","slug":"shinrin-yoku-nature-gazing-part-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.skhamptonpark.catholic.edu.au\/upschool\/guest-contributors\/shinrin-yoku-nature-gazing-part-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Shinrin-Yoku &#8211; Nature Gazing, (Part 2)"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Shinrin-Yoku, Nature Gazing Part 2<\/h2>\n<p>My favourite thing in the whole world is staring intensely at living things, foraging for wild edibles, and musing about the magic and history of places out of daily reach.<\/p>\n<p>I am a nature baby &#8211; and my top therapeutic activity to restoring tranquillity and calmness to my day is to spend as much time as I can in nature alone.<\/p>\n<p>Feelings of frustration, angst, irritability and brain fog are lifted with enough time surrounded by friendly trees and the sweet sound of birds in the trees.<\/p>\n<p>When I feel off, I know what to do!.<br \/>\nRun, in the direction of the nearest parkland, water source or wilderness and stay there until I feel normal again.<br \/>\nApplying the practices of mindful awareness and patience &#8211; and allowing time and intentional focus on the natural and alive &#8211; bad moods shift, the mind clears up, and I can return home feeling more connected and less emotional.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/central.digitalschools.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/Thin-Grey-Line-2-1024x37.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"23\" \/><\/p>\n<h2>Without intending it, my daily practice of Nature Gazing is not too dissimilar from the course of Shinrin-Yoku,(forest bathing) that was established in Japan in the 1990s to help people manage stress and mental illness.<\/h2>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/central.digitalschools.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/Thin-Grey-Line-2-1024x37.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"23\" \/><\/p>\n<h2>Shinrin-Yoku &#8211; (<em>Forest Bathing)<\/em><\/h2>\n<p><a style=\"color: #3366ff\" href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/X_K4tHRw67I\">\u2192\u00a0Find Out More Here\u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/central.digitalschools.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/Thin-Grey-Line-2-1024x37.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"23\" \/><\/p>\n<h2>Thank You<\/h2>\n<p>As we journey further into the how and why nature gazing and simple therapeutic practices can work magic on our well-being, I would like to acknowledge the custodians and the traditional landowners of the Kulin Nation and the Worimi peoples whose country keeps me sane.<\/p>\n<p>To Birpai, the country that raised me.
